Today, quality assurance must not only be done; it must be seen to be done. Parents, the governing body and the community at large are interested in knowing how the school is doing. The reporting process is therefore an important part of the quality assurance system. In some countries public reporting is now becoming common. In Scotland schools are required to publish a Quality and Standards report, showing how the school is doing in relation to national performance indicators.
